Communication: VitWatch® is a web based system created by Scheid Vineyards to provide
our clients with real-time web access to their contracted blocks. Throughout the growing season,
clients can use this password-protected website to monitor weather data (both real-time and
historical), irrigation profiles showing soil moisture levels and vine stress, GIS/GPS-based
vineyard block maps, and more. During harvest, grape maturity data (Brix, pH and T.A.)
is e-mailed to our clients on a daily basis.
Technology: Our wireless network spans over 70 miles, from our northernmost vineyard in
Soledad to our southernmost vineyard in Hames Valley. Using a combination of long-range microwave
links and strategically placed access points, our vineyard personnel have high speed wireless
access to the internet and our corporate wide-area network. This allows devices such as notebook
computers, weather stations, and full-motion video cameras to send data directly to our data center
Relationships: Contract grape growing is about listening to and understanding the needs of our
clients. Guided by our veteran vineyard team, we match the site and custom tailor the viticultural
plan to meet the specific objectives of each client. We work hard to forge enduring relationships,
deliver exceptional value and premium quality.
